D E V L O G #1 - Getting started


When I first started doing game development many years ago I always felt that there was never a complete log of a game from start to finish, with all the problems solved (or unsolved) on the way. 

For many years I've been doing little bits of work on the side, mainly just messing around with ideas but nothing concrete. Now I'm getting back into it, and I want to use Project Artemis as a way to document my game development from start to finish. 

Project Artemis is a game idea that I've had for a while which aims to take the feeling of adventure and wonder I had when playing LoZ LTTP, solving the puzzles, exploring new dungeons, finding secret areas, along with the dynamic generation and synergy of the room and item mechanics of BoI.

Whether it ends up failing spectacularly or takes years to complete, I want this to be able to hopefully help someone like myself all those years ago, by discussing all the little problems that were overlooked, or strange technical decisions that were made.

I'll be working in HTML5 + JS as these are languages I've extremely comfortable with, so you can expect all of my technical posts to be using these. I've already begun a bit of work on some of the core mechanics but I'll be back tracking a bit to document them more fully going forward.

I'll be aiming to post a couple of times weekly with what I've been up to, so stay tuned!
